How it started
we previously were owners of Irish wolfhounds. they live very short lives due to health issues from being so inbred
when I lost my heart hound, Eamonn, I was so devastated Imade the decision to attempt what is known as DNA outcrossing breeding program

EAMONN
for the program I chose Belgian tervuren shepherd for temperament and wolf for diversity
we were thrilled with Garricks (tervuren) and Esme (hc wolfdog) temperaments
while raising Esme I came to understand just how amazing wolves and high content wolfdogs can be. their bonding to family is extraordinary. they are focused and very precise. extremely dedicated to family. they truly are not the aggressive animals that people have labeled them.
so there my journey began. being in the wolfdog community through social media taught me just how exploited wolfdogs are. they are over bred just as so many breeds are. all for money. its so very sad to see that so many need rescue and sanctuary because there are so few people that really understand them. our journey with wolfdogs began

eSME
during the first part of the outcrossing program we took in two wolfdogs that were returned to the breeder and they didn't have room for them. one of them came with the permanent problems from severe head trauma. when we got her home all she could do is walk in a circle. we had made an appointment for her that following day to have her assessed for quality of life. she was completely blind in her left eye and mostly in the right. she had loss of proprioception in her hind legs and her feet were bloody from being in a hard kennel and pavement. We decided to have her spayed that day, and give her a chance at life. to all our and our veterinarians amazement after several months she was able to prance in a somewhat straight circle. we had her on grass and her feet were no longer bloody and raw. she was a true joy to watch and it was so hard to think that after all she went through she could still love people. She was our ray of sunshine...raya
our decision to have a sanctuary began with Raya
